Auto Start in ABB -AC Drive ACS850

I have more than 30 Drives of ABB ACS850. I am facing a problem with all the drives.

Once we apply Emergency Stop from field or local panel, the drive trips/stops. While releasing the emergency it starts automatically.
If we give stop command from the DRIVE CDP then this does not auto start.

From some drives if we reset the fault like over current it starts automatically.

What we need to change in the parameter?

How are your local and remote, from DCS or PLC, starts wired?

And what type of logic?

I have seen PLC motor start logic that holds the start contacts closed. This is a big mistake and can cause motors to cycle or restart when they should not.

ALL the start contacts, manual or automated, should be momentary with only the motor control or MCC sealing in the start. That way any stop or trip will drop out the motor contactor and the start circuit.
Resetting any trip will not restart the motor until a new start command is issued.

good luck

This is Single Digital Output for Start and Stop. This is happening only with CDP start.

It sounds like you may have the emergency stop contacts wired into the start circuit. If if so it is just a two wire circuit and the driver runs when the circuit is closed. You would need some kind of external logic to keep the drive from restarting if this is the case. It is hard to diagnose your problem with the limited information you have given. Most of these drives are used in the HVAC industry where you want them to restart automatically. If you don't want them to restart automatically you'll probably have to use a 3-wire control.

Wow! That's very odd and criminal to say the least. All our machines are set up so the operator needs to push two buttons at once to start the machine. Almost seems like you have a latched start command somewhere, dunno bad relay to motor contactor? But all the drives do this!! One things for sure you need to address this issue immediately. Describe your setup in detail and maybe we can advise.

Your communicated or SCADA starts need to be momentary ON's of 5 sec. duration. Configure the variable speed drives to latch in the start and to clear it on a stop or trip. Resetting a trip will then not restart the drive. A new start will be required.

good luck

Hello,

Its starts only when we operate from CDP. We have S7 PLC system and the with Single Stsrt/Stop DO. The latching is with PLC system. We have following options to run the drive -

1. Local Mode :
a. From Local Panel Push Button
b. From CDP
c. From Field LCS.
2. From Remote PLC

This Auto start happening only when we running the drive from CDP (local) mode only.

Hello,

Where is your Emergency Stop from the field connected to the Drive? If it is connected to the XTOS terminals Safe Torque Off input I believe the problem is with the settings of the XTOS inputs. It maybe that the XTOS input will trip the drive but will not reset the Start command from the CDP. If you like check this manual for the Safe Torque off function:
https://library.e.abb.com/public/1b...S850_ACQ810_STO_ApplicationGuide_H_screen.pdf

You might want to contact ABB for support on this function especially ask them if the XTOS input is off does it reset the CDP start command.

Good luck!
